The conference provided training for law enforcement professionals in digital forensics and evidence recovery, electronic discovery and information security.

John Sammons is the director of the Appalachian Institute of Digital Evidence and says this year’s conference has focused a lot on handheld devices and tablet computers.

“We’re finding now that a lot of things, I mean everybody has a cellphone and they are so advanced anymore that they are more or less a computer in your pocket, so a lot of the same kinds of artifacts and evidence that we would find on a regular computer or what everyone would consider to be a regular computer can now be found on almost everyone’s cell phone,” Sammons said.
